Angelina Jolie diaper bagAngelina Jolie was seen recently carrying a StorkSak Gigi Chocolate Diaper Bag, and when such a finding is reported on a handbag site, instead of one for baby products, you know that celebrity baby fever is far from over. Suri Cruise is a pint-sized fashion icon, and tabloids are always on “bump watch,” especially when it pertained to Mariah Carey. But much like the Balenciaga and Chanel bags seen on stars, diaper bags are becoming the latest sub-section of baby pop culture to get some attention.

The StorkSak Gigi Diaper Bag is made out of nylon and leather and has a tote bag style. A thermo-insulated bottle holder, a changing pad, and various pockets are inside. Jolie, however, is not the only celebrity to be seen with StorkSak. The other half of Bradgelina, Brad Pitt, has been seen with a black leather StorkSak bag, and Pete Wentz and actress Gretchen Moll have also been seen with the brand.

Celebrities, of course, carry plenty of other diaper bag brands. To see what some of the stars are carrying, go here.

As you can see, some celebrities aren’t even going with a diaper bag brand and, instead, have turned an ordinary purse into a diaper bag. To the horror of fashionistas everywhere, Jessica Alba made a Fendi purse into a diaper bag. Gwen Stefani, similarly, uses a handbag from her Harajuku Lovers line to carry around diapers, bottles, and other baby products.

If you’re looking for a tote-style diaper bag, StorkSak isn’t all that’s out there. JP Lizzy diaper bags generally have a tote bag style and include wipes cases and changing pads. If you want a similar style to Angelina Jolie’s, JP Lizzy has designs in chocolate brown, as well in pink, green, and black.

Diaper bags can look like ordinary purses. Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags, for instance, all have ornate looks. If you want the look of an ordinary leather handbag, go with Timi and Leslie diaper bags, which are made out of nylon or faux leather.

Tips for Packing a Diaper Bag ...

When you’re a parent, you always take around a diaper bag for the first few years. But, while diaper bags are supposedly getting bigger and looking more like designer handbags, do you know what to pack inside of one? The obvious answer, of course, is diapers, but how many will you need? Sometimes, parents are told to pack one for every hour they’ll be out, and, other times, they’re told to pack half a day’s supply. And, what about changing pads and creams? If you’re not sure what to add to a diaper bag, ParentDish gives some suggestions, which include:

• Always pack a half day’s worth of diapers. This may vary with each child, however. Pack more if you expect you’ll be going on a longer than usual trip.
• Bring a changing pad. A bag may be equipped with one or you may need to pack your own.
• Bring a travel-size case of wipes. If you can’t purchase travel packs, fill a small wipes case with a few sheets.
• Bring travel-size bottles of balms, powders, and creams to conserve more space.
• Take along a change of clothes for your child.
• Always have bottle and a few snacks on hand, just in case your child gets hungry. These should be packaged well, however, to prevent them from being soiled or contaminated by bacteria.
• Take a few small toys with you, such as a rattle or teething ring – but nothing too large.
• Bring a few basic first aid items, such as baby aspirin and bandages.
• Consider bringing a bib, tissues, and pacifier for longer trips.
• Never pack items that should go in a purse or a separate bag. This includes electronics, cash, cell phones, and large toys.

Finding and Packing a Diaper Bag ...

A diaper bag is one piece of equipment that’s nearly as necessary as a stroller. If you’re looking for a way to make one less conspicuous, some retailers and manufacturers carry diaper bags that resemble designer handbags. These, on the outside, are created to look like a leather handbag, but inside, all of the storage remains the same.

But, no matter what a diaper bag looks like on the outside, it should be packed and stocked accordingly. Diapers aren’t only what goes inside, however. Here are some suggestions for packing a bag to take your baby out with you:

• Plastic diapers. Bring at least one diaper per hour. If you plan to be away from home for six hours, then six diapers should be packed into your bag.
• Plastic bags. These are needed to help dispose of any diapers in a changing room.
• Travel wipes. Separate cases of wipes are sold separately, but, if you don’t plan to stock up on or have any travel cases handy, put a few in a plastic bag.
• Diaper rash cream. Rashes can occur at any time, so you need to be prepared with a tube of diaper rash cream.
• A cloth blanket or diaper. Not to be used in place of a plastic diaper, but a blanket or other piece of cloth is needed when a baby needs to be burped.
• Extra clothing. Socks fall off, shoes are lost, and pants get soiled, and, for all of these instances, have a full outfit ready for such emergencies.
• An additional adult shirt. Babies spit up at any time and it’s often on your clothing. Be prepared with an extra shirt for yourself to change in case of such instances.
• A changing pad. Not all diaper bags come with a changing pad and having one for public changing areas is important.
• Sun block for days outside.
• Baby toys for comfort that will fit in the bag.
• An ID card in case the bag is lost or left behind.
